Father's Day Adventure - Iron Horse State Park, John Wayne Trail

What a family adventure!  On Father's Day, we warned our children that "adventure" implies surprise negative events that need to be overcome by the hero.  Then we set out with good friends and Grandpa Bob to bike the 20 mile, gentle gravel railroad grade from Snoqualmie Summit to Rattlesnake Lake.  100 yards into the trip we lit our headlamps and entered the black hole (2 mile tunnel).  We had echoing whimpers and tears along with the singing and whooping.  One child crashed 4 times, one adult confirmed that the walls of the tunnel are slimy, but we made it through, success!  Along our route we savored many beautiful bridges, lush forests, and a lovely picnic near a babbling waterfall.  Our day ended with a surprise thunderstorm and downpour just minutes from shelter, and then we were able to rest.  Thank you, Lord, we appreciate our successful Father's Day Adventure!
