Oh it's so surprising - we just start brainstorming, and - bibbity-bobbity-boo! Each person gets an entirely different senior photoshoot - For Malia's shoot, I will begin our story at the end of our shoot ...
We both really love the imagination & story behind "Cinder" - a futuristic Cinderella tale by Marissa Meyer, where a cyborg super-mechanic (Cinder) steals the Prince's heart despite grease smudges & a few big secrets - but this Cinder-ella loses her entire FOOT on the castle staircase as she runs from the Ball at midnight - it's a metal foot, and it just wasn't hinged properly...
Malia and I decided to go-for-gold with a Cinder mock-up. She noticed this 20th century car that belongs to Jeff Routh - it is just the type of vehicle Cinder would rescue from a junkyard. Cinder's metal foot was "made" in Photoshop from bits of the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP), see the raw photo material in Christopher's senior portraits, here.
Meet ... Cinder:

This imagination fun brings us back to the beginning of this shoot, to one of Malia's favorite places to be... Main Street Books in Monroe. It's ... quirky. It's filled with stacks of used books, it hosts story times that Malia attended as a child, and it has super prices!! Malia with the shop cat, of course with an appropriate story time:

Before the bookstore, Malia had been treated like a princess Selene with hair to order by Miguel and a light & natural make up with Joni at Gene Juarez in Redmond.
Malia really wanted her hair to look like it does when she styles it herself - except she'd like it to STAY that way all through our shoot! With Joni, she asked for her tan lines from her sunglasses to disappear. Bibbity-bobbity-boo!
Another favorite hideaway of Malia's is this forest.
She has fond memories of her adventures here, with friends and siblings, and it is gorgeous:

And she obliged me - even though the sun was bright - isn't it a princess thing to sleep in the moss, or a hollow tree?

And back to Malia's home for a little normal everyday fun... her trusty bike...
