Making our Senior Portraits during Covid is… a little sad for me. Architecturally beautiful public indoor locations are not available for portraits showing noses and mouths ~ so we applied a little imagination & I love our results!! Faith dressed the part ~ elegance and beauty personalized with her own fun & outrageous details!! ~ then she wrapped sheer black tulle over her “cloth face covering” to beautify her mask for the occasion ~ see below …
This is not a political statement ~ it is simply a fact of our times:
We cover up hundreds of expressive facial muscles that are meant to communicate intent. By now we have all spent time with classmates, co-workers or friends without ever seeing their noses and mouths ~ our minds make up a story about what that person’s face looks like, and what expressions accompany that voice, then we interpret words based on our guesses. Sometimes we laugh with delight when we see each other outdoors sans masks; a little disoriented when a face and smile are not at all what we had imagined. The last two years of Faith’s high school career have taken place behind masks. Maybe some of us welcome the ability to hide, but I think it feels so good when others are interested in seeing the person behind the mask :)
Autumn gave us a riot of fun color for backgrounds:
The University of Washington campus looks nearly fairytale at times.
And sometimes positively Harry Potter-ish
Seattle has a crown - a CORONET of a park,
filled with such a variety of very individual gems -
Discovery Park on Magnolia Hill
and let's call its rocky windswept beach with the flashing lighthouse a bright gem flashing in golden sunlight:)
This was the part Faith looked forward to THE MOST :)
Faith's hair was styled at the Gene Juarez Salon at University Village.
I found such joy while getting to know Faith a little bit during this afternoon. She reminds me of a very good book, the kind that has plenty of laughs and even tears and lots of surprises, the kind of story that continues to delight & fascinate over a lifetime. Even though I've only seen a couple pages from the middle of this story, I can just tell already :)
I'm grateful to all who passed along the recommendation of my little portrait biz to Faith's family, we were a great fit!
